Mercatus is excited to welcome Marilee Shea to our growing team as a sales executive based in the Bay Area in California. Marilee comes to us from Allvue Systems and before that she spent nearly 14 years in various positions at Bloomberg. We recently sat down with her to learn more about her new role and what brought her to Mercatus.
What is your role at Mercatus?
My “title” is VP Sales, North America, however I’ve been hired to join Mercatus to drive new account generation.
What is your career background?
I spent almost 14 years at Bloomberg where I held a variety of roles and where I eventually took a strong interest in alternative markets which led me to Allvue where I sold our Equity products to GPs, mostly in the PE & VC industry.
In your past roles what are some unmet needs from private market investors you’ve seen around data management technology?
In the private markets, data is king. As fund managers evolve their investment process to incorporate more and more data, their workflows become more and more siloed. There is an inherent need for a platform solution across workstreams that helps fund managers not only combine their various data sets, but also create a standardized process so that the data can be used more effectively.
What excites you about Mercatus?
The people are what excite me most about Mercatus. I’m excited to be working alongside some of the greatest problem-solvers and critical thinkers there are!
How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?
Private market technology will continue to evolve, which is why it’s important for fund managers to select a vendor that can flex with the growing needs of the market and customers alike.
